Frame size guide
Five numbers describe almost every pair of glasses. If you know these on a frame you currently love, you can match new CLEARBORNE frames with confidence.
Frame width
The total horizontal width of the front of the frame, temple to temple. This is the single most important number for fit — it sets whether the frame will sit comfortably across your face or push against your temples.
Lens width
The horizontal width of one lens. Most adult frames sit between 48–56 mm. Smaller numbers read as compact / petite; larger numbers read as oversized.
Lens height
The vertical height of one lens. Taller lens height (35 mm+) is required for progressive or bifocal lenses.
Bridge
The gap between the two lenses, sitting on your nose. A wider bridge suits a wider nose; a narrower bridge keeps the frame from sliding.
Temple length
The arms that run from the front of the frame past your ear. Standard adult temples are 140–150 mm. Too short and the frame pinches; too long and it slides forward.
How to compare with a pair you own
Look on the inside of one of the temples. You will usually see a sequence like 52 □ 18 145 — that is lens width, bridge, temple length. Match those numbers to a CLEARBORNE frame within ±2 mm and the fit will feel familiar.
Narrow / medium / wide face guidance
Narrow face (frame width under 132 mm). Choose compact rectangles, small rounds, or kid/youth ranges.
Medium face (132–142 mm). The widest selection — most CLEARBORNE frames sit here.
Wide face (142 mm+). Look for oversized, bold acetate, or frames listed as wide-fit.
Why size matters
The wrong size frame won't sit centred on your face, which means your pupils won't sit centred behind the lenses. For prescription lenses (especially anything stronger than ±2.00) this causes visual distortion and headaches. Get the frame size right first, then choose lenses.
